August 6, 2010, a Friday
near Red Feather Lakes, Colorado, USA
— Processed images and photographed at Dowdy Lake
We got up around our normal time and I filled the hummingbird feeders before I had my usual breakfast. I looked at more things to make my hummingbird photography setup more robust, and I ordered three small ball heads to support the rest of my flashes. (I had purchased two when I put together the first iteration of the hummingbird photography setup.) It took me a long time to ID the bee I photographed last night and also the plant on which it was resting. After I finally IDed them, I processed two images for the blog.

Pork Tenderloin Marinade

  • 4 tbs teriyaki sauce
  • 4 tbs soy sauce
  • 2 cloves garlic, chopped
  • 4 tbs brown sugar
  • 1 tsp ginger
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • 4 tbs olive oil
Mix all ingredients, then pour over meat. Marinate 4 to 5 hrs, turning occasionally.
I had lunch around noon of the remainder of the Columbus dry salami, some Swiss cheese, and two slices of Earth Grains 7-Grain bread.

After I finished eating, I called a potential website client to talk about the site he'd like to have built. I processed images for a stock submission and J made a batch of pork tenderloin marinade and started marinating a pork loin. It started raining around 2:50. I set up the grill after it stopped raining, then grilledl the pork tenderloin.

We had dinner around 6:15 of the grilled pork tenderloin with honey-glazed cooked carrots and leftover herbed rice. The pork was awesome, and we'll definitely have it that way again.

We decided to stick around the RV to see how the clouds would develop because there was a mostly-solid cloud bank to the west — probably not too exciting for landscape photography. I looked at some things to improve my hummingbird photography setup. We left in the Jeep around 7:20 when the cloud bank started to break up.

We went to Dowdy Lake to photograph the sunset. I found some great rocks to use as a foreground element, but the clouds didn't really light up. Fortunately, the clouds created a nice pattern to fit with the trees and rocks, and I really like the image to the left. I used three stops of graduated neutral density, with a soft transition, to balance the bright sky with the dark foreground.

We returned to the RV around 8:40. I downloaded the images I took then downselected them in Capture One (C1). Then I processed images for a stock submission.
